Intake Questionnaire

A few questions help Frankie prepare your case correctly. Takes about 5 minutes. Your answers combine with the documents you've uploaded to produce your complete filing.

About you
Your legal identity as it will appear on the petition (Form 101)
Household
Used to determine your state median comparison
Housing
Real estate you own
Skip if you don't own property. Attorney will verify estimates against zillow/county records.
Vehicles
Include cars, trucks, motorcycles, RVs, boats. Year/make/model needed for exemption analysis.
Employment — past 2 years
Needed for Statement of Financial Affairs and Schedule I. Include every job you've held in the past 24 months.
Income beyond wages
Anything you receive regularly that isn't on a pay stub. Monthly amount for each.
Prior filings
Pending legal actions
Current lawsuits, garnishments, foreclosures, or child-support orders
Personal property (rough estimates)
Attorney will refine these during review — your best guess is fine. Value things at what they'd sell for today, not what you paid.
Bank & financial accounts
Every account you have, even if nearly empty. Schedule A/B requires full disclosure.
Money or property coming to you
These count as assets even if not yet in hand — required on Schedule A/B.
Leases & recurring contracts
Schedule G requires all executory contracts. Attorney may decide whether to keep or reject each.
Anyone jointly liable with you
Co-signers, joint credit card holders, business partners. Required on Schedule H.
Recent payments & transfers
Statement of Financial Affairs Q4/5/18 — required disclosures. Transparent answers protect you; missed disclosures can cause case dismissal.
Monthly expenses (beyond housing)
If very different from the IRS standards Frankie uses, enter actuals here.

Preparation Guide

1

What this meeting actually is

A short, routine phone call (usually 5-10 minutes) with a bankruptcy trustee. It's not a courtroom. The trustee just confirms your petition is accurate. Your attorney, Rebecca Kim, will be on the call with you the entire time.

2

What to expect

The trustee will ask about 10-15 standard questions. You'll answer "yes" or "no" to most of them. It's straightforward — thousands of people do this every day.

3

Common questions you'll hear

"Is everything in your petition true and correct?" — Yes. "Did you list all your property?" — Yes. "Did you list all your debts?" — Yes. "Have you transferred any property in the last 2 years?" — No.

4

What NOT to do

Don't volunteer extra information. Don't guess — if you're unsure, say "I'm not sure" and let Rebecca respond. Keep answers short and factual.

Your Fresh Start

Congratulations, Jessica. You did something incredibly brave — and it paid off. Your debt has been legally eliminated.

You are debt free

Rebuild Your Credit

Most clients see credit improvement within 12 months. Here's a month-by-month guide to get you there.

Month 1

Get a secured credit card

Start with a $200 deposit card. Use it for one small purchase per month — gas or groceries — and pay it off in full.

Month 3

Check your credit report

Verify all discharged debts show $0 balance. Dispute anything that still shows as owed — this is common and easy to fix.

Month 6

Add a credit builder loan

A small installment loan diversifies your credit mix. Many credit unions offer $500-1,000 builder loans with low interest.

Month 12

Upgrade to an unsecured card

With 12 months of on-time payments, you'll likely qualify for a regular credit card. Your score should be in the 650-700 range.

Thanks! I uploaded most of my documents. I'm having trouble finding my bank statements for November — my bank only shows 5 months online. What should I do?

Frankie Team
No problem at all! You can request older statements from your bank — most banks will email them within 24-48 hours. Just call the number on the back of your debit card and ask for a copy of your November statement. Upload it once you have it and we'll keep things moving in the meantime.

Got it, I'll call them today. One more question — a collector called me yesterday. Is that going to be a problem?

Once your case is filed, creditors are legally required to stop contacting you — that's called the automatic stay. Until then, you can tell them you've retained an attorney and are filing for bankruptcy. If they continue, keep a record. We're working to get your case filed as quickly as possible.

Hi Jessica — I'm Rachel, the attorney assigned to your case. I've reviewed your initial documents and everything looks good so far. Once we have your remaining items, I'll finalize the petition for your review. Feel free to message me here with any legal questions.

Hi Rachel! Thank you. I had a quick question — will I lose my car? I still owe about $8,000 on it.

Rachel Kim, Esq.
Great question. In California, you can exempt up to $3,325 in vehicle equity under CCP 703.140. Based on what you owe vs. the car's value, your equity is well within the exemption. Short answer: you keep the car.
